Toke Makinwa Unveils New Fragrance Collection In Lagos

Nigerian radio personality and lifestyle entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa, unveiled her latest unisex perfume collection under the label Toke Makinwa Beauty on Tuesday.

The event, which was graced by a host of celebrities and fans, including the Lagos State Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, took place at RJ4, Victoria Island.

Guests were treated to an immersive experience, sampling the three distinct scents: Vogue, Dive, and Intense, and having the opportunity to snag their favourite on the spot.

In her opening speech, Makinwa shared the inspiration behind each fragrance.

She said, “Anyone who knows me would know that I am very passionate about perfumes and I also believe that regardless of what the economy is saying, people will always spend money on how they look and feel because that is literally what they need at the end of the day, and perfumes make you look good, smelling good is good manners.

“I am a perfume girl, I love smelling good, so I think we are right in the middle of getting people to be more confident and feel great about themselves and to wear the scents.

“I am super excited to see that people love it. The reviews have been great, thank you. The hard work sort of paid off. I think I built a brand from the things I love doing.

“I love the three fragrances, ‘Dive’ is an everyday scent, something you can wear to work on a date, ‘Vogue’ is very spicy and ‘Intense’ is sandalwood also deep scented, it’s a unisex brand and guys and girls can just buy and have a good time.

Grateful for the positive reception, Makinwa added, “Thank you to Nigeria for supporting me. We are rolling out a couple of scents; this is the first and not the last, and I do hope that we take this from Nigeria to the rest of the world.”

The commissioner, Benson-Awoyinka also congratulated Makinwa, reiterating Lagos State’s support for creativity.

“The Lagos State Government is committed to promoting every creative outlet, I am very proud of you, and I hope you continue to be that role model that you are, congratulations,” she said.
