Rohr Praises Resilient Super Eagles
Coach Gernot Rohr has described the 2-0 win over Central African Republic (CAR) yesterday in Douala as a good reaction from the Super Eagles after their 1-0 loss to the same side in Lagos last week.
Rohr admitted that it was not easy beating CAR in Douala.
“It was a good reaction from my team. We were unlucky to have lost the first leg in the last minutes of the match in Lagos. And we wanted to take a revenge against them and we did very well even we could have scored more goals,” the German said.
The former Bayern Munich defender attributed Eagles’ triumph to change of tactics at the backline.
“We changed the tactics to play with three defenders at the back and this really helped us coupled with the leadership role played by Ahmed Musa helped us to win this game.
“It is not easy to beat CAR because they made a lot of fouls and fortunately we did not have any big injury. Now we can prepare for the next game in November and I hope that everything will be fine at the end of the day,” Rohr added.
He thanked the fans for their support despite their inability to be
present at the stadium during the tie, “Our fans were watching and I
thank you for your support. We have a young team who are ready to fight
despite making mistakes in the first leg but they never give up,” he
added.
